Media Library no longer works

Vantage goes into the beachball of death every time I try to access the media library. All plugins are disabled. Media Library works fine from dashboard but when I go into the custom setting for pages it gos into a tail spin. In fact the appearance/custom setting goes into a tail spin all the time. Perhaps some operator error involved, but if I knew I wouldn’t be posting and I have spent two hours trying to integrate an image into the design.
