Masthead occupies Way too much space on the top of the page

7 years ago · Last reply by Alex S 7 years ago

Hi there,

I am working on a website, which consists of the masthead immediately followed by a slideshow. The masthead has a logo and five tabs. The masthead, which is supposed to fit into one line, occupies at least two lines of space on top of the page, making it impossible to view the slideshow. I have used this Custom CSS but it yet does not work. There is a HUGE margin between the third tab and the right edge of the screen, where the fourth and fifth tabs should fit with ease. Mobile and tablet websites work similarly too. There is also a very large gap between the top of the page and the masthead items.

The following images will be helpful in understanding what’s up.
Desktop
Tablet
Mobile

Please help me as soon as possible, the deadline for the release of this website is fast approaching. Thanks a lot!!

    Hi Anirudh,

This is happening due to how large your menu items are (both vertically and horizontally). I would recommend reducing the size of your menu items to allow for things to appear smaller overall – especially on tablets and mobile. You can do this by navigating to WP AdminAppearanceCustomize, Theme DesignMenu. Adjust Menu Item Vertical Padding (px) and Menu Item Horizontal Padding (px).
