Masthead above logo/site title

is it possible to place the menu/nav at the very top, i.e. before the logo/title etc occurs? This is for a child theme.

This can be done by using the Logo in Menu layout option. You’ll find this under Appearance > Theme Settings > Layout. It’s unfortunately not possible with the normal masthead.
