Master Slider doesn’t show up on Home Page

I’m experiencing the an issue with the Master Slider – it doesn’t work on the home page, although it works great everywhere else, on all other pages. I’ve even tried disabling the Meta Slider on the home page, but still the Master Slider doesn’t show up. I have the code pasted in the Visual Editor, and I also tried adding it as a Widget through the Page Builder – still nothing. Please help!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Zaaya945

Please remember that Page Builder content must be edited via Page Builder only. It’s not possible to manage Page Builder content via the Visual/Text tabs nor is it possible the other way around.

Check that a Meta Slider isn’t selected under both:

    1. Appearance > Theme Settings > Home
    and
    2. Pages > Home, there is a Meta Slider box in the right column.

With both of those set to None you should be able to turn Meta Slider off.

Yes, I’m able to turn of the Meta Slider, but i’m working with a MASTER Slider Widget, and it won’t show up on the Home Page.

Do you think the Master Slider is not compatible with Vantage?
Strangely, it works on other pages in my website, just not on the HOME page.

    Hi, I Work Here

Have you tried adding to the home page via Pages > Home and not from Appearance > Home Page?

YES, I have. In fact I have tried to add it in Page builder as a Master Slider widget, AND I tried to just copying the code for it into a Visual Editor widget, and still nothing shows up. I also tried going to Appearance – Home Page and turning OFF the Custom Home Page at the top, and then going back into Pages – Home Page and saving it from there, and still no luck.

In fact, when i’m in Pages – Home Page, and I go to just Visual, overtime I save it, it reverts back to Page Builder. However, if I add the widget through Page Builder and switch to Visual, I’ll see the list of the pictures that are in the Master Slider, but they still don’t show up on the front end.

I’m breaking my head over this.

“In fact, when i’m in Pages – Home Page, and I go to just Visual, overtime I save it, it reverts back to Page Builder.”

If there is existing Page Builder content then it’s not possible to make edits in the Visual tab.

Please try my child theme, it’s for layer slider but you can adapt it:

    https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/vantage-child-home-page-layerslider.zip

    1. Unzip it on your desktop. Edit header.php, change layerslider function to Master Slider one. Check Master Slider for necessary info.

    2. Rezip folder.

    3. Install via Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload Theme.

If it works you’ll need to redo Appearance > Customize and Appearance > Menu settings, a normal result of activating a child theme.

OK, i’m super confused about your reply, please keep in mind I’m brand new to this and don’t know how to program. Just figuring it out as I go, with your help.

First, I now understand that if there is something in the page builder, then I can’t edit in Visual or Text. But if I remove all content out of Page Builder, then could I use Visual builder? Which one is better or preferable?

What exactly is a child theme? How does it work and how does it affect my site? If I understand correctly, u can go between themes freely, though each theme is a bit different and might need tweaking some specifics right?

When I save your “child theme”, i go into the php file and change the words “layerslider” to “Masterslider” – is that what I need to do? I am not sure what you meant by “Check Master Slide for necessary info”. What kind of info am I looking for?

Also, when I rezipped the file and uploaded it, and activated the theme, some pages look exactly the same and others have crap on the top header, and the bottom footer looks different. I still wasn’t able to get the master slider working here – what did I do wrong?

Do these apply to me at all? Not sure what all this code is and how to get it into my site, but perhaps you guys can tell if this will be useful:

    Hi, I Work Here

No problem. Please head to Master Slider and check what the ID is of the slider you’re trying to insert. I’ll make the child theme for you from there.

(This is the page that applies to us: http://masterslider.com/doc/wp/#in-wp)

The ID of the slider is the following code: [masterslider id=”2″]
Plz tell me how to use a child theme – will it mess up everything else on the page?

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. You’ll need to replace line 35 in header.php of the child theme I sent with the following:

    <?php if(is_front_page()) echo do_shortcode( '[masterslider id="2"]' ) ?>

Activating a child theme will cause Appearance > Customizer and Appearance > Menu settings to reset.
