Mastead background image auto size

9 years ago · Last reply by mcbightonbrian 9 years ago

I am simplying trying to use the Masthead as banner with a full width background image. (No logos)

The background image is set to cover.

The problem is the image is not responsive to different resolutions. I have messed around with different CSS settings and I can get it to display correctly for certain resolutions but then it messes up others?

What am I missing here? Surley there must be some simple way to set the background image to be auto responsive? (in the masthead that is)

Any help greatly appreactiated!

Brian

    Hi Mcbightonbrian

Unfortunately, this is a limitation of CSS background images. CSS backgrounds must maintain aspect ratio at all costs and as a result, at smaller resolutions, they tend to crop to ensure this aspect ratio is met. This is unavoidable the only solution to the issue you’re having would be to either replace the masthead with an HTML based image, or you could separate the image into three images. A background, a logo and a text logo. You can add the text logo to the masthead by adding an image widget to the header widget area, which can be done at WP AdminAppearanceWidgets.
