Hi Sed
Thanks for reaching out. Try add the following to Appearance > Custom CSS:
Should do the trick.
Thanks for your quick response Andrew. I apologize for not replying to you sooner. I’ve got one more Page to complete by tomorrow, then my new Vantage Theme site will be finished and I will add your code and report back. Your Support Service for your product is certainly 5 Star!!!
No problem :) Glad to hear you’re making progress. Let us know how the CSS goes after you’ve given it a try. Chat then :)
Hi Andrew,
Sorry to report that the code did not make the Logo non-clickable. I copied the CSS code you gave me into Notepad, saved it then copied the code and inserted it in Appearance>Custom CSS saved the CSS code and then deleted the cache and tested.
My Vantage Theme WordPress format: Static Front Page with 6 Unique Pages. All Page Attributes are as follows: Parent = No Parent. Template = Page Builder Home.
The issue to resolve: When clicking on the Logo on the 6 added Pages, the process redirects to the Front Page, which, of course, is not as intended.
End result desired: Nothing happens when a visitor clicks the Logo on any of the added Pages so as not to have the visitor leave the Page and be redirected to the Front Page.
Can that be accomplished?
Please can you re-insert the CSS into Custom CSS so we can view it in use. Thanks.
Thanks Andrew. The code has been re-inserted. Thank you for all your help. I hope what I want will be possible.
Awesome :) Looks all good my side now.
All the best.
Hi Andrew. The code still does not work on any of the additional pages. So you can get a visual understanding, below are the URL’s to the additional Pages in question:
http://www.suncitycomputerservices.com/computer-repair-computer-services-palm-desert/
http://www.suncitycomputerservices.com/computer-repair-computer-services-la-quinta/
http://www.suncitycomputerservices.com/computer-repair-computer-services-palm-springs/
http://www.suncitycomputerservices.com/computer-repair-computer-services-rancho-mirage/
http://www.suncitycomputerservices.com/computer-repair-computer-services-indian-wells/
http://www.suncitycomputerservices.com/computer-repair-computer-services-cathedral-city/
Clicking on the logo on all of the URL’s above links back to URL: http://www.suncitycomputerservices.com/ (the Front Page) thus moving the visitor off and onto a different page.
Therefore, I do not want the logo to be clickable on any of the Pages. I am using your Vantage Theme as a website, not as a blog. Each of the Pages above is used somewhat like a landing page for each city within my service area. For example, I want the visitor to http://www.suncitycomputerservices.com/computer-repair-computer-services-palm-desert/ (herein after referred to as the “Palm Desert” page) to stay on that specific page, not be redirected to:
http://www.suncitycomputerservices.com/ when the Logo on the “Palm Desert” page is clicked.
I am hoping to find a solution for the desired outcome. Any help your team can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Hi Andrew. I played around editing the code in the Masthead.php and got close but not perfect. I deleted the following code on Line 8:
<a href="<?php echo esc_url( home_url( '/' ) ); ?>"
That made the logo not clickable, but previewing the change on the live pages found some of the code was visible to the left of the logo and positioned the logo several pixels to the left.
I have since returned the Mastead.php to the original code. Does this test point us in the right direction?
Did you clear your cache again? I see you mention clearing it once before, did you clear it again? I’m almost certain that’s the issue. The Custom CSS is working for me on all pages.
If you continue to see an issue after clearing cache, please, let us know which browser and OS you’re working in.
Hi Andrew. The issue is resolved in Firefox and Chrome (both in Windows 8.1 and Android OS’s) but not in Internet Explorer in Windows 8.1 OS. Since 80% of my customer base uses Internet Explorer, it is crucial to me to have the logo not clickable in all browsers.
OS is Windows 8.1 Pro
Browser Info:
Internet Explorer 11 Version 11.0.21
Firefox Version 39.0
Chrome Version 44.0.2403.89m
What I’ve done to test: Cleared cache in WordPress and logged out of WordPress, then deleted all temporary Internet files for all browser products, performed a Reset of Internet Explorer, then (using the Windows Administrator Account, not my User account) deleted all temp files throughout the Windows 8.1 system, rebooted and tested using my User account.
I have performed the above test twice and Internet Explorer still allows the logo on all of the Pages to be clickable, thus linking back to the Front Page.
Thanks for clearing this up. Pointer events is a Mozilla hack that was also implemented in WebKit browsers. Chrome is a WebKit browser. I'll work up a child theme for you that removes the logo link from the header. I'll be able to jump into this task tomorrow.
That is WONDERFUL Andrew! Thanks so very much.
Sure. Here we go:
https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/vantage-child-logo-no-link.zip
Download the ZIP and install from Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload Theme.
It’s normal for your Customizer and menu settings to reset when activating a child theme. Unfortunately, no way around that.
Let us know how you come along.
Thanks again Andrew. If I upload and activate the new theme, does that mean I will need to rebuild the website from scratch all over again?
Andrew all pages work just as I had hoped for!!! As you mentioned, the custom menus just needed to be reset which only took a few minutes. What 5 Star service!! You can’t know how much I appreciate all of your help, patience and understanding.
Awesome, really glad we were able to help out. All the best with your website :)
