Major Flaw in accepting to “revert to editor”. that is irreversible.

I do have the same problem a Man, posted 7 hours ago but I cannot reply to his post for some reason…

I love your plugin expected a major flaw when accepting to “revert to Editor”
This is NOT reversible unless rebuilding the whole page again. I redid it once, I will not redo it twice, hoping there is a better solution.

I build my pages with siteorigin site-builder but i wanted to update the custom fields or even using revisions at the bottom of the normal WP-editor.
I did the mistake of clicking onto “revert to Editor” but that converted all my work in a single page all together with the original “Visual”setup and look.

since page builder gave me the choice to switch back to WP-editor, I did that, was able to update my custom filds but when I wanted to switch back to page-builder, it asked me “Would you like to copy this editor’s existing content to Page Builder? ”
What I had noidea of it that when using wp-editor, the whole page was converted back to usual and now that I accepted this switch back to page builder, it stuffed the WHOLE page in a single SiteOrigin Editor widget.

So the only way to retrieve site-builder my Page editor setup is to redo the entire page.

I am sure there is a betteR solution. CAN YOU HELP????

I am stilll earning WordPress but I like siteorigin plugin, it is too bad we cannot momentarily change to regular editor when needs arise like reading/using revisions (using this by the way did not work and did not restitute the page builder ..) or custom fields…
It seems it does not happen only to me so it is a siteorigin problem
my question is, if the temporary switch is irreversible why making it visible then???
once using Page builder it should stay on page builder.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Pierjean,

I don’t recommend using revert to editor unless you no longer plan on using it. There’s simply no reliable way of converting Page Builder data to something the WordPress can understand (and vice-versa) in reliable manner as there are things the WordPress simply cannot do.

There are however things you can do to allow for the conversion process to be more reliable when going between the two (although it’s never recommended that you do though!). Please navigate to WP AdminSettingsPage Builder and open the Content tab. Tick Copy Content and Copy Styles. This will allow for a lot of your page to convert better overall. Please note that you’ll need to save any page created prior to changing this setting as it’ll still be using a basic form of the page.

For reference, we show the revert to editor option purely to give users the option of using it if they need to. We try and prevent people from not using it by using stronger wording (revert rather than switch, for example) and providing a warning message stating it may result in data loss.

I build my pages with siteorigin site-builder but i wanted to update the custom fields or even using revisions at the bottom of the normal WP-editor.

That’s odd. Custom Fields aren’t disabled when you use Page Builder and revisions are supported by SiteOrigin Page Builder so there’s no need (or rather, there shouldn’t be) to disable Page Builder to use them. Is the Custom Fields box visible? You can double check this by scrolling to the top of the page and opening the Screen Options. Please ensure Custom Fields is ticked.

Regarding revisions, is WordPress stating you don’t have any revisions? Copy Content should hopefully allow for that to no longer be the case (please try making a change to a page to confirm) but if it doesn’t, can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue (you’ll need to make a change to a page builder powered page to test this)? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

Thank you for your fast response
I was able to rebuilt my page with page builder and going to disregard the original editor. I did realize why I did not see the custom fiels and upodate, is because I was always with the "live Editor" on. so yes, when I click "done" to close it then I can access it.

I had also a problem after that I could not save my work after updating so I desinstalled the plugin and reinstalled it, and it seems to work now

    thank you very much

very nice plugin for a dummy like me!
