Logo link to home works on one installation, but not the others

I’ve got a site that has 3 subcategories for different audiences that uses the same theme. I was styling one version when I realized that I could click on the logo and head back to the home page (hooray) but the others aren’t able to do so. I’ve checked the settings > general and settings> reading and everything is the same in all versions, so I’m not sure why I can click a link on one logo and get home but not the other two.

the working logo href lives here:

Welcome

Granted, that site doesn’t have a headline widget in the header section, but that shouldn’t change the ability to click on the logo. Any ideas?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi anichols77,

    Sorry for the late reply on this thread. As far as I can tell, you’re using a standard logo image on this page: http://ipmssg.org/others/ – so it’s properly linking to your home page.

    On your other page: http://ipmssg.org/patients/ – you’re using a header background image which Vantage doesn’t make clickable.

    The solution here is to make sure you’re always using the standard Vantage logo in your WordPress admin, under Appearance > Theme Settings > Logo > Logo Image.

    Hi Greg,
    That’s…strange. The logo on http://ipmssg.org/patients/ is actually applied in Appearance>Theme Settings> Logo> Logo Image as you suggest. It’s not part of the #masthead background (although what you may be seeing there is a gradient image). The logo image should be linking to the home page as expected, but there doesn’t seem to be a hyperlink there. Deactivating the gradient image in the background causes no change to the logo hyperlink either.

    It seems that the image that’s showing up in the inline css is from the slider. I’ve tried deleting the image and reuploading it, but for whatever reason, it’s still being stuffed into the header background and I don’t know why. That image isn’t the logo, either, so I’m not really sure what’s going on….

    Hi, I Work Here

    Sorry to hear about the hassle. A sidenote, try the following under Appearance > Custom CSS, your header sidebar seems to jump around occasionally, this will stop that:

    /* Vantage Header Sidebar Padding */

    header#masthead .hgroup #header-sidebar[style] {
    padding-top: 140px !important;
    padding-bottom: 140px !important;
    }

    The problem with your logo appears to be that the header widget area is covering the logo. I think that area will need another look. To help lay your header widget area out I’d suggest first inserting the Layout widget into Appearance > Widgets > Header and then inserting widgets via the Layout widget after you’ve built a layout there. Will hopefully do the trick.

    Thanks for the tips! I didn’t even realize there was a layout widget! I did relay the header widgets but I think the combination of the large photo in the slider and the logo size itself. The circle icon widget that’s right next to it actually has the same link, so it’s not the end of the world at all.

    I am super excited about that layout widget though! Thank you for pointing that out to me and for helping me reset the header widgets!

    Hi, I Work Here

    There is unfortunately, as you said, a challenge with all of those elements put together in the header. The large image in particular looks like it’s pushing the header widget area over the logo, making the logo unclickable.

    Glad to hear the Layout widget will be useful :)

    Thanks again! My clients are really married to having all that stuff in the header, so I’ll just let them know that the downside is the logo isn’t clickable.
    That layout widget just saved me a ton of time, too! Thanks for your assistance.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Another option might be to try make use of the masthead background for non-clickable items you need in the header.

    The Layout widget is brand new, we call it Widget Inception :)

    Let us know if we can help out in the future.

    Cheers
