Less styles inserted into page source in two places

Hi – I’ve just created my first theme and I’m adapting some of the SiteOrigin Widget Bundle widgets.

I’ve noticed that the default.less files are being compiled and inserted into the page source in two places – once in the header and once in the footer. I recognise the styles, and the blocks are identical, so I suspect there is a configuration somewhere that I’m missing. Is this a familiar issue? Can you help?
