Layout Builder – Hidden Duplicate Widgets

Hi,

I just ran across something a little weird, perhaps a potential bug.

While using Layout Builder (great widget!) I had three rows. I was working on the second row with Editor and wanted to duplicate it. The second widget did not appear. I tried a couple more times and nothing.

Upon looking at my work in Live Editor, the three duplicate Editor widgets appeared in the top row. When I returned to editor mode only the Headline widget was visible in the top row. The three duplicated editor widgets were not visible.

So the challenge was deleting the hidden widgets. I duplicated the top row and all four widgets were there. I deleted the three widgets that were previously hidden and the entire top row. And everything displayed as it should.

You may want to see if you can simulate it.

Best, Kim

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Kim,

Unfortunately, I can’t seem to replicate this. Does this issue occur if you disable all non-SiteOrigin plugins? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hi Alex,

Sorry for the delay in responding. Busy Times!

I tried a few ways to replicate the behaviour.

It occurs when using widgets from the Ultimate Addon Bundle is on the same line, and directly below as a SO widget. There needs to be a second row present that already has a SO widget on it.

If I’m on the top row and add a widget from the Ultimate Addon Bundle, it is placed in the second row. So I drag it to the top row and click duplicate and that is when the widget duplicates to the second row but is not visible.

The widgets in the Ultimate Addon Bundle are not a SO widgets, but you refer to them on your site. You may just want to put a note beside the Ultimate Addon Bundle and provide a link for the workaround. The workaround is simple. Just duplicate the row, delete the unwanted duplicates and then delete the original row.

    Hi Kim,

That’s a strange issue. I suspect that the plugin is having general issues due to how outdated it is. To confirm, the specific plugin you’re using is Ultimate Addons for SiteOrigin, right?

Can you please clarify where we refer to this plugin? I can only seem to find a mention of this plugin a thread about this plugin.

Yes, it is Ultimate Addons for SiteOrigin.

I had a look to see where it was mentioned but couldn’t track it done. If I find it I’ll send it along.

FYI, the developer notes on the wordpress.org page

“”Special thanks to SiteOrigin for the help in developing this plugin”

You can mark this thread as closed.

FYI, I switched to SiteOrigin Premium — I should have done it a while ago. The additional setting create tremendous flexibility

The plugin is using the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle development framework. We don’t have any direct input on that plugin.
