Layout Builder Broken.

Hi Support,

Good day, I recently installed SiteOrigin Page Builder, first of all I’m loving it, I can do complex layout with this plugin other than the other page builder plugins. But there are several bugs that I have encountered and I am scared to edit my pages. because I might lose all my hardwork.

1. Layout Builder – I encountered a bug particularly with this widget. I am always using it but sometimes when I re-open (edit) this widget I cannot see the layout that I have work on, instead it it says “open builder” button and its unclickable.
2. Layout Builder – I encountered sometimes also that when I open this widget my work has been doubled and if I save it. my changes will be gone.

Lastly where can I find the “History Browser“?

Please help me to solve this issue I am working with my Employer to buy the premium version so this also serve as our pre-purchase question.

Hope that you can answer my concerns and more power!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Luisito,

I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing. :(

Would it be possible for you to send me an export for this page? To do this open up the page with the widget and click layout. Then click import / export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as teknik.io.

    1. Could you show me a screenshot of this button? (please include the entire page for reference)

    2. This sounds like a plugin conflict. Hi Luisito Amisola

This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    3. You can access the history by clicking the history button in the page builder toolbar (it’s above the editor). Please note that it’s only able to store history for a single session (a new session is started when you save or navigate away).

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Luisito,

Thank you. I’m able to replicate both instances but cannot work out why this is happening so I’m going to log this as a bug. I’ll ping Greg about this directly also.

    Hi Alex S,

Thank you for a quick reply, please do. IMO this is a big bug and needs to be solve, currently I have 10 long pages that uses SiteOrigin Page Builder, right now I am very hesitant to edit my pages because this might happen, which is right now 90% of the time it is happening. I havent seen any error even on my console and I updated my apache server, php, mysql.

Other bugs is when I open Layout Builder or a certain row the content double up inside it, and others is my 3 column row collapses after I save my changes, usually what happens is that the affected area are the rows before of my last edited row.

I am very worried right now. thanks!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Luisito,

The latter (the duplicate menu) seems to be as a result of the other issue rather than a separate issue.

I would recommend not using the Layout Builder widget for the time being as you should be able to get away without using one.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Luisito,

There’s currently no ETA on a solution for this issue as we’re having a hard time consistently reproducing it, and an even harder time without using a layout not derived from your layout. Could you try building a very basic layout with this issue present and sending me a copy of that? That would help us immensely as right now this issue seems to be a very obscure one (which are very hard to fix).

Mostly how we layout the pages is adding custom classes of the row and widget class fields.

Some scenarios that I’m doing also is:

    1. Editing in a admin page editor in a tab and viewing the changes on the other tab (website)
    2. Opened several page editors simultaneously on each different tab

I will try to produce a page that you requested. thank you!
