Latest Post on Home Page with image

I want to put the latest post on the home page with an image that links to the post, and it will automatically populate when a new post is added.

    Head to Appearance > Home Page and insert a Post Loop widget. Select the template you want to use from the widget’s drop down menu. Ensure that each post has a featured image added: http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/ and you should be good to go.

    Thank you. Very simple. I was able to select the featured image as an icon and remove them from the individual posts!
