Issues with background overlay after WP update.

After a recent update to WP the image overlay have stopped working on layout builder widgets. Is there a way to fix this? The option is selected, but there now appears to be no choice of color and the it doesn’t display any overlay.

Please help.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Mike

    Thanks for reaching out.

Please, could you take a screenshot of the setting within the Layout Builder you’re working on and send it to us? You can upload to imgur.com or any cloud sharing site and send us the link.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks, Mike. Any idea which theme or plugin is adding that setting? If you aren’t sure you can find out with a bit of testing. If you temporarily deactivate all plugins except for Page Builder by SiteOrigin, is the setting still in place?

The theme is CharityWP, I’m not sure whether this setting was added by the theme itself or was a option with Page Builder. The clients site has been live for 3 years without issue but it appears the most recent updates have caused the issue.

I’m not keen to deactivate all plugins whilst the site is live, and this has caused issues before that have made me lose time trying to resolve afterwards. Was there a recent update to Page builder that perhaps caused this issue?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks for the update.

Page Builder is fully extendible. Themes or plugins can add or remove functionality. Without further testing, I can’t say whether the theme or a plugin is adding the setting in question. It isn’t a SiteOrigin authored setting meaning we can’t test for it or ensure update compatibility. Testing to figure out where the setting is originating should only take a few minutes, it’s a quick process of elimination. If the setting is removed by deactivating all plugins except for Page Builder then you’ll know a plugin is adding the setting. In that event you’d reactivate your plugins one by one or in groups, checking for the setting after each activation or group of activations. You can use a maintenance mode plugin to take the site offline briefly in a presentable manner. A test like this shouldn’t cause any issues, if you let me know the details of the issues faced in the past from a test like this, we can try to assist further.
