Just installed the upgrade (2.4.2), and now I have issues with Meta Slider (slides not showing up with some of the Pro features).
Also, I went into the functions.php file to try and add a shortcode for a Google Maps plugin. The site crashed so I did a scan of the file. Turns out there is an extra “>” on line 336.
Not sure what theme version should be listed in the functions.php, but I have open 2 versions…one says 2.3.3 and the other is 1.2.3
Shouldn’t it be 2.4.2?
Hi Jennifer
First of all I apologize for the delayed response.
I have just looked at your site and I can see you have the slider running. Did you have this solved?
Kindly, confirm
Hi Jennifer
Sorry to hear about the problems you experienced.
All WordPress themes completely overwrite themselves when updating so it’s unfortunately not update safe to make changes directly to the theme files. functions.php is also a very sensitive area to work in, one bracket close wrong or small mistake and it will bring the theme/site down. If you need to add a custom function, please work from a child theme, you can find a starter one here:
https://github.com/siteorigin/vantage-child/tree/master
Or even better, let us know what you need to do and we’ll try find the safest way to make that change.
All of the 1.x.x version numbers are Vantage Free, 2.x.x are our premium versions.
It looks like you managed to restore your site. Let us know if we can help further.
