Issues after update

A customer has come to me and was having issues with updating their site.

Basically, whilst the website is looking fine, we cannot edit any of the pages as the Page Builder isn’t loading, and the text in the Admin area when updated doesn’t make any changes live.

I cloned the website using All-In-One Migration, to a dev server, and modified my host file to view the site through its normal URL.

I then updated to the latest version of SO Widgets Bundle (was v1.2.1) and SO Panels (i.e. Page Builder – was v2.1), but now most of the content isn’t being displayed on the website.

When I go to look at the Page, the builder is now loading, but there are a lot of missing widgets.

The ones that are listed as missing are:
SiteOrigin_Widget_Spacer_Widget
SiteOrigin_Widget_Title_Widget
SiteOrigin_Widget_Moreservices_Widget
SiteOrigin_Widget_Testimonials_Widget

In Plugins > SiteOrigin Widgets, it says Testimonials is active. The other 3 aren’t listed there as available widgets. I also have bundled widgets ticked.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Thank you.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Higgalls,

I’m not too sure what is adding these widgets as they aren’t our widgets:

    SiteOrigin_Widget_Spacer_Widget
    SiteOrigin_Widget_Title_Widget
    SiteOrigin_Widget_Moreservices_Widget
    SiteOrigin_Widget_Testimonials_Widget

The last widget isn’t ours as all of our widgets are prefixed with: SiteOrigin_Widgets_

Based on the above, I suspect a fork (a version based on our code but not developed by us) of our plugins were being used.
What theme is the website using?

    Hi Higgalls,

Actually, I think I may know what’s going on. Please navigate to WP AdminSettingsPage Builder and open the Widgets tab. Tick Legacy and Bundled Widgets and save. Does that look?

    Thanks Alex for your response.

I had already tried ticking Legacy and Bundled Widgets, but it didn’t make any difference (I actually ticked it and left it ticked as I further investigated).

The theme was Kerna by UXQode.com, which is no longer available and not supported (not sure when the developer stopped supporting it – I didn’t do this website).

Anyway, what I have ended up doing is recreating the entire website from scratch. It has cost the customer more, but it is also a good reminder to keep things updated (something that he never did previously).

    Thanks for your assistance anyway.
