Hi Minoru
By localise do you mean translate? If so then you could translate the theme’s .pot file. Perhaps explain which meta info and which error messages you need to change and how – I’ll try advise from there.
Andrew,
Yes, I meant translating it.
Does it get overwritten when the theme gets updated?
thanks
Minoru
For sure. Here is a good post on translating using Poedit: http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-translate-a-wordpress-theme/.
To keep things update safe please use the following child theme: https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/vantage-child-translation.zip. You can place your .po and .mo files in the languages folder in that child theme.
Please remember that activating a child theme does unfortunately mean that Appearance > Customizer and and Appearance > Menu settings need to be re-done.
Andrew,
OK I got everything translated and uploaded with vantage-child folder with the file structure kept as the original. I activated wordpress system in Japanese, but Vantage sill spits out in English.
I also indicated the language in wp-config – says wplang ‘ja’
Any idea?
oh btw, all the setup gets back to the default as you mentioned…
Also I am happy to give you ja_JP.mo and po files on your need.

Thanks for the feedback
The language code for your wp-config.php file should also be:
If that still doesn’t help then please send your child theme zipped to [email protected] with a reference to this thread in your email.
Thanks
