Is there an easier way?

I’m not sure if this is something that might be available in the premium edition, but right now I have the SiteOrigin Editor, widget bundle and CSS loaded onto my site and when I add the editor widget and work in page builder I’m CONSTANTLY having to switch back between this and “revert to editor” because the editing functionality on the SiteOrigin Editor is so limited. For example, text size and color are two that immediately come to mind. What just happened with me is I had to “revert to editor” and I inadvertently deleted EVERYTHING below what I could see on the screen itself. I then saved it, not realizing, and then saved it again. When I went to preview my page, I realized I had just lost 4 days worth of work and, apparently, the page builder history only shows from your last save point and I was in complete panic mode because it was no longer retrievable. Fortunately, I had saved a draft earlier in the day and was able to retrieve it from the trash, losing only a couple of hours of work.

So the question is two-fold, really:

1) Is there a better way of editing (does the premium version give more options from editing within the widget itself – I’ll happily pay)

2) Is there a way for page builder to save your actual history instead of reverting to your last save point – or am I doing something wrong? This is such a huge issue, especially considering I save often as to avoid these kinds of issues.

Thanks.

I figured out the first part – I didn’t have the toggle view on my toolbar and didn’t realize it could be added via the TinyMCE Advanced editor settings.

    Hi Jim,

I’m glad you were able to resolve 1. TinyMCE would have actually been my suggestion so you definitely found a good solution.

    2. SiteOrigin Page Builder is compatible with the WordPress revision system so every time you save the page, you’ll trigger a post revision. This will allow you to revert to pre-sessions versions of the page. If you don’t see any revisions present, it might be to do your settings. Do you have the Copy Content setting disabled? You can confirm this by navigating to WP AdminSettingsPage Builder and open the Content tab. If the Copy Content setting isn’t enabled, please tick it and save.

Hi Alex, thanks for the information. I’ll have to check the settings, though admittedly I’m probably using it a bit differently than most people in that I’m not creating a bunch of new posts, per se; rather I’m updating a page with the latest news and information so it’s constantly changing. My only issue since this is editing full screen in pagebuilder requires some effort to continue to go up and down the page (it’s like it gets literally stuck) to get back to the toolbar.

    Hi Jim,

That really shouldn’t matter as WordPress doesn’t really mind how many times you update a page – it should still save a revision each and every time you save. Let me know how you go with the revisions and if they aren’t saving, I’ll take a closer look.

The next time you have issues trying to scroll the editor, can you please take a screenshot and send it to me? This will hopefully give me a better idea of the context of when this issue occurs.

Please note that we’re currently unable to process attachments so you’ll need to upload the image to a third party image hosting site like Imgur or vgy.me.
