Is the CSS separate from the original theme?

Do the edits we make with this CSS Editor replace code in the original theme? Or is this CSS tacked-on outside of the theme it relates to–like making a child theme? I only want to add CSS changes externally, without modifying the original theme. Otherwise, all of my CSS changes will disappear with the next theme update.

    Hi Joker6solitaire

    Thanks for reaching out.

Vantage comes bundled with Appearance > Custom CSS. You can also install our dedicated Custom CSS plugin (SiteOrigin Custom CSS) which overrides default Vantage Custom CSS. Both options store your CSS safely in the database and are update safe. No modifications are made to the theme.

All the best with your site :)

Thank you, Andrew, this answered my question. I’ve been using the Site Origin CSS plugin, and have made some fun modifications to my theme.

I have a related custom CSS question: Can I add CSS changes in units of “em” rather than “px”? I don’t like the way some of my customized changes render using the static “px” instead of the responsive “em” units.

For sure, you can use any standard measurements for your values. Pixels, ems, rems etc. All good to go. Basically, if it’s in the CSS spec then you can use it.

    All the best :)
