Is it possible to generate/specify an og:image from an iFrame?

10 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 10 years ago

As some of you guys know, I’m a meteorologist and run a weather resource. Some of my pages, for the time being, are displaying graphics such as radar images using iframe. My developer has been building some of the tools on his dedicated server, so I’m stuck with iFrame until we eventually move the scripts over to my server. Nevertheless, for the purposes of sharing the url on Facebook, I need an og:image. It seems like there has to be a way to automatically generate a thumbnail (similar to a screenshot) of the current content in the iframe. Any ideas?

I don’t like to post my url on forums (for SEO reasons), but if anyone would like to take a look just go to:
iweathernet dot com/dfw-doppler-weather-radar

If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them :)
I hope the weekend is off to a good start.

    Hey Chris

    Thanks for reaching out.

Can you use featured images? https://wordpress.org/plugins/opengraph/ and WordPress SEO will grab the featured image and use it as the og image.

I think we’re running no-follow on all links on the forum except for a few that we’ve placed on a white list. Sites like css-tricks.com etc.
