Hi
every change of any SiteOrigin Headline widget on my page www.jarosuvstatek.cz gives me error: 500 after I try to save the changes. I have already try to disable and re-enable all the plugins, didn’t help. I have also tried to clear the cache but it didn’t help either (even though I’m not sure I did it right). Any other recommendation what should I do?
Hi Adam,
Would it be possible for you to send me an export for this widget? To do this please open up the page with the headline widget in the editor and click the Layout button in the Page Builder toolbar. Then click import/export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as teknik.io.
Hi Alex,
thanks for the reply. I have uploaded the layout here: https://u.teknik.io/j43NQ.json
Hi Adam,
That’s odd. Your exported file looks to have been massively escaped and incorrectly edited during the save. This suggests the headline widget you’re editing has major issues or your server is handling the data incorrectly (this happens when your server tries to forcefully filter the data to ensure it’s “secure” – we do this already and automatic way of doing this isn’t very good).
Does this issue occur with a specific headline widget, or are you able to add a new headline widget and open that without issue?
Hi Alex,
this issue is the same with all the headline widgets. I can open the old ones, make changes there, add a new one, but every time I try to save the changes, I get an error 500.
Hi Adam,
Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look?
This is a private message.
Hi Alex,
I have created the account according to your instructions. Let me know if you have not received the email with the password.

Hi Adam,
Unfortunately, I’m unable to replicate this issue on your website. Are you able to replicate this issue on another computer or by using the account you created me? (you’ll need to reset the password by editing the account you created me)
Hi Alex, sorry for the late reply. I have tried this by using siteorigin account (didn’t change the password tho, used the one I see in a private message in this thread) on a different computer & different wifi as well, but still getting error 500.
I have replicated the first siteOrigin headline widget, moved it to the second row and hit Save Home Page button. Then it was uploading the data and when it got to 99 %, I got this error:
Hi Adam,
That’s odd. Hm. To clarify, on these different computers do they have similar browser setups (as in, the same extensions)? Also, have you tried different browsers?
Hi Alex,
just to specify, I mostly use Chrome. I am logged in with different user accounts on both of those PCs, but some plugins are installed on both. Those are:
BetterTTV
Grammarly for Chrome
All of the Google docs plugins
However, I have tried to use Edge on my notebook (which is completely without plugins), same error. I have tried to use Chromium & Firefox on my Desktop PC and the result was the same as well. I have even tried different operating systems, as my notebook runs Windows and my Desktop PC runs Ubuntu.
Hi Adam,
That’s really odd. I’m really not too sure why I can’t seem to replicate this issue. Hm.
Can you please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG? This will require editing wp-config.php so if you need help with doing this I would recommend getting in contact with your hosting provider.
Once enabled, please replicate this issue. Do you see a proper error message now? If not, can you please FTP into your website and navigate to the wp-content folder and copy the contents of the debug.log file (it’s okay if this is missing) and send me a Pastebin of it.
Hi Alex,
I have enabled debugging in wp-config.php file by setting
hope it was the right way to do that. After that, I have replicated the issue, the error popped up, but no debug.log file has shown in wp-content directory.
Hi Alex,
I would like to make some progress on this site ASAP, so I have decided to create a new layout. Now it works with no problem. It means I have to set up the whole page from the beginning, but at least I can work with it. Thank you a lot for your time and effort, really appreciate it :)
