Influence won’t use TinyMCE on homepage

By cmoore, 5 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 5 years ago.

Hi,
Using Influence theme, I’ve installed TinyMCE, so if I want to write a new page or post, there are plenty of choices. I’m also using the Classic Editor.
However, my one-page site, set up as the homepage, that I had already written text on before I installed TinyMCE, doesn’t give me the option of using the Visual Text Editor. The options are very limited. How do I make TinyMCE available on that existing page?
Thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Cmoore,

Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

If that doesn’t help, can you please show me a screenshot of what you’re seeing? Please note that we’re currently unable to procress attachments so you’ll need to upload the screenshot to a third party image hosting site like Imgur or vgy.me.

I deactivated all plugins, cleared cache, refreshed, tried a WP theme, refreshed, switched back to Influence, reactivated Page Builder and Tiny, refreshed, and still no luck.

If I click on a word in the body of the page, it then shows a short edit bar with 10 choices, such as: change block type, alignment, bold, underline and a couple more.

I suppose I could paste the content into a new page with Tiny working, so I could format it, but I expect that would mess up the permalinks and titles, or lack thereof.

    Hi Cmoore,

It sounds like you’re viewing the Block Editor rather than the Classic Editor. Does restoring to a revision prior to this issue occurring help? For information on how to do that, please refer to this article.

If that doesn’t help, can you please show me a screenshot of what you’re seeing? Please note that we’re currently unable to process attachments so you’ll need to upload the screenshot to a third party image hosting site like Imgur or vgy.me.

There are only 2 revisions, both using the editor I’m using now. I want to use the Classic Editor. Why doesn’t it give me the choice between the two?
Vgy.me doesn’t work – it always times out.
Can’t join imgur since someone has apparently used my email. Not me.
Seriously, there’s nothing in the editor to see except those 10 choices I mentioned. Is that the Block?

    Hi Cmoore,

I really need to see a screenshot of what you’re seeing to confirm if you’re viewing the block editor or not.
Imgur doesn’t require an account – just drag and drop the image onto the home page. Alternatively, use an alternative image upload site or a cloud service like Dropbox or Google Drive.
