incorrect permissions in css files

Hello, this issue has been very confusing and I cannot properly replicate it to figure out what is causing it.

The problem is Site Origin Page Builder and Widgets is relying on a couple .css files in wp-content/uploads/siteorigin-widgets/ and those css files are normally the wrong permissions. In our case, that css are the styles that fix the image widths. The CSS from one of those files are attached at the bottom.

I cannot understand why the permissions are being changed to 660. It’s almost random. Periodically I have to go in and re-chmod the css files.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? I haven’t found anything on the forum that was conclusive.

Here is the CSS in those files:

.so-widget-sow-image-default-eef982a7180b .sow-image-container {
  text-align: center;
}
.so-widget-sow-image-default-eef982a7180b .sow-image-container .so-widget-image {
  display: inline-block;
  max-width: 100%;
  width: inherit;
  height: auto;
}

Btw these forums are very hard to post to.

    Hi Cg4455,

    We don’t directly modify permissions when writing CSS. Instead, we rely on WordPress to handle permissions. Are your other uploaded files permissions being changed? I ask as it’s possible your hosting provider has something present that’s automatically altering permissions.

    I just found out that there is a setting in the wp-config that is the default permissions for a new file. It was set to 660. So I’ve changed it to 644 and going to wait and see.

    But I’m glad these files aren’t raising any red flags. I thought I read somewhere that if these files are being created it’s because there’s a permission issue somewhere.

    Hi Cg4455,

    Great to hear that you managed to find the source of this issue.

    I thought I read somewhere that if these files are being created it’s because there’s a permission issue somewhere.

    It’s actually the opposite – if these files aren’t being created it’s a sign of a permission issue.
