Incompatibility with Zoo theme

Hello – I am using Page Builder with the Zoo WordPress theme. The Page Builder designed pages look fine in the preview and Live Editor modes, but when I publish them to the live site they lose most (if not all) of their formatting. I have deactivated most of the plugins and that has not helped. Do you have other suggestions?

Thank you.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Susan,

is this the theme you’re using?
Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at the resulting pages?

Hi Alex, thank you for the quick response. Yes, that is the theme I am using.

Here is the public URL: http://sevennovember.com

Although I took down the new Page Builder pages since they looked so wonky. Would you like me to set up a temporary admin account for you so you can look around?

    Thanks again,
    Susan

    Hi Susan,

    Sorry for the delay.

If possible, can you please create a test page so I can get an idea of what the resulting output is? Consider using one from the layouts directory. To access the Layouts Directory please press the Layouts button in the Page Builder toolbar and then head over and then select a layout.

    Hi Alex –
I've published one of the test pages so you can see it on the live site.
It's the About page (3rd section down), here: http://sevennovember.com/

I've also attached a screen shot of what it should look like, from when I preview the page prior to publishing it.

If I publish the page as a stand alone page it seems to retain the formatting, but when I include it on the home page as a tier it loses formatting.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Susan,

HM. That’s odd. Oh. Wait, hang on. It looks like this theme doesn’t run the correct filters on the data it’s fetching. Okay, so the only real way around this is to indirectly add the contents of that section via a plugin like Reusable Content & Text Blocks by Loomisoft. Once installed, please navigate to WP AdminSettingsPage Builder and open the General tab. Tick the Content Blocks Post type setting and then save.

Please navigate to WP AdminContent BlocksAdd New Content Block and call the content block something relevant and then enable Page Builder. Click the Layouts button in the Page Builder toolbar and select the relevant clone type. Find and clone the About page about and then save.

Scroll down to the Content Block Usage Codes box and copy the No Paragraph Tags / No Shortcodes shortcode.

Navigate to the About page in the backend and click Revert to Editor. Replace all of the generated HTML with the copied shortcode. How does that look?

Unfortunately, we’re currently unable to process email attachments at this time. Can you please upload the image to an image hosting service such as vgy.me or imgur and send me a link? Sorry about this!

Thank you Alex. I will try all of this and report back!

In the meantime, here is a link to the screenshot I sent earlier:

Thanks again Alex for your help. I did everything above, but it still doesn't work. It does, however, look better than before! Please see
http://sevennovember.com/ third tier down for the new look.

At some point, should I just change my theme?

    Thanks again

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Susan,

Based on your image, please copy the first shortcode (No Paragraph Tags / Run Shortcodes) instead of the second shortcode – I didn’t see the usage of shortcodes until just now. If that doesn’t work, try using the Full Content Filtering option.

Do you have a cache plugin? I ask as I can’t seem to see a noticeable difference between what I saw last time and what I see this time. :( For reference, this is what I see:

I mean, if you’re okay with changing themes that’s definitely an option. Although, I just want to confirm what I’m seeing is what you’re seeing before I even consider suggesting that.

Hi Alex – yes, that is what I was seeing. I do not have a cache plugin.
I rebuilt the About page today and tried again – now the page appears as blank.
    Any other ideas?
Thank you so much for your assistance.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Susan,

To clarify, did you try the other two shortcodes? If you did and it didn’t help, can you please create a separate page with the provided shortcode present? I want to clarify that the reusable content shortcode is working without issue for you.

  11. 8 years, 3 months ago Susan Pierson Brown

Yes, I did try both shortcodes. The strange thing is the pages seem to work in Preview mode, but when I put them in the menu to appear on the home page they lose all the formatting.

Here is a test page without the content blocks: http://sevennovember.com/about-new/
Here is one with the Full Content Filtering option: http://sevennovember.com/about-new-2/
Here is one with No Paragraph Tabs/Run Shortcodes http://sevennovember.com/about-new-3/

Thanks again for all of your assistance.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Susan,

This might sound odd, but can you please try a plugin conflict test to ensure no other plugin is interfering?

Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins (leave Reusable Content & Text Blocks by Loomisoft active) and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

Hi Alex – first let me say THANK YOU for all of your help and patience with this. I really appreciate everything you are doing to try to help.

I tried disabling all the plugins, but there were two from the Zoo theme I could not disable. I cleared the browser cache but am not able to check the server cache. Forging ahead, this did make a difference in how the new page displays (it actually displays!) but much of the formatting is lost. See here, third tier down: http://sevennovember.com/

I am not a developer (as you probably surmised), so am probably at my limits of what more I can do on my end. Unless you have other suggestions? Have I found the one theme that may not be compatible with Page Builder?

    Thanks again, for everything,
    Susan

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Susan,

Unfortunately, it looks that way. There’s nothing more I can really suggest to try and work around this limitation. :(
