Using Vantage. When an image on a page or post is clicked it opens up full screen. However there is no “close” button (or “X”) and user has to use browser back button to return to original page. Is there a way to get close button on full screen display
Apologies if this is dumb question but I am brand new to this but think Vantage is fantastically flexible way to build a complete site.
Thanks
Hi Chris
Thanks for running Vantage.
Sounds like you’re liking your images to the media file. This is fine but I’d add two plugins to help out:
1. Install Jetpack: http://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/
2. Activate these modules in Jetpack:
http://jetpack.me/support/tiled-galleries/
http://jetpack.me/support/carousel/
The last one there is what you want in this case. Once running your images should open a nice lightbox.
Hope that helps.
Andrew
Thanks for the prompt response and advice – I will do that.
For sure. Take a look at their help articles there. Hopefully you’ll find it relatively easy. Let us know if you don’t come right.
Andrew
I looked at Jetpack options but didn’t like the fact they insist on a comment field (I’m trying to avoid any non-standard CSS etc which is needed to eliminate that). I tried another plugin you mentioned elsewhere – Responsive Lightbox – which does what I want very nicely. Images display in the lightbox ok if inserted into a standard page. However with BOTH Jetpack Carousel and Responsive Lightbox images do not display in the lightbox if inserted directly into a page builder widget (using Tiny MCE Widget) but they DO display if inserted a gallery in that widget.
Is there a way to get images in Tiny MCE widget to display in lightbox if inserted as a full image (i.e. not as a gallery)?
Thanks
For sure, whichever plugin works best for you. Just make sure that you went to Jetpack > Settings and disabled all the other modules you don’t need. Sounds like the Comment module was activated.
Have you tried inserting one image galleries?
Hi Andrew
Putting the single image into a gallery does then use the lightbox but I didn’t realise you could change the shortcode to stop gallery using thumbnail size image. I now know how to do this – so problem solved!
Thanks for your prompt and patient help. I think you can close this issue off now.
Fantastic. Really glad to hear you made progress there. Thanks for sharing your solution with us.
