Image loads slowly.

I uploaded images that were JPEG converted from RAW right out of DSLR and I know that’s not something to be done on a website. Please help with the size and resolution of the images that should be used on SiteOrigin Photo Widget and the SiteOrigin Hero Widget. If there are any other resolutions I should be aware, feel free to share that too. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Amitabh,

Typically, the compression applied by from a direct conversion from RAW is very poor so you may want to reduce the size of the image even more. The dimensions of your images don’t really matter but ideally, they should be as close to the actual size of the image on the page itself. For example, if your image is only ever going to be set at 500×250, there’s no reason to have the image be 1920×1080. As such, I can’t provide a direct suggestion in terms of dimensions without knowing your exact usage but I typically recommend having the image be at least 1920px wide.

    Hi Alex,

Thank you for your response. Can I know a possible way to determine the dimensions of the image be uploaded? Any tool that can be used to do so? Yours or third party. This will help me resizing the images to the desired size in Photoshop.

    Thank You!

    Hi Amitabh,

As in, the dimensions of the used image or the size of the uploaded image? If the latter, the size of the uploaded image will be the exact same dimensions as it is in Photoshop. If the former, your best bet would be to use the development tools included with your browser to work out the on page size of the image. For example, the Chrome DevTools allow you to know the on page size of the image by either selecting the image or hovering on top of its URL:

The natural size is the size of the image while the other size is the on page size of the image.
You can also find the sizing by looking at the sizes defined in the width and height attributes but they aren’t always reliable as they can be changed.
