Home>Support>Icons Not Visible in New Vantage Install

Hey Julie, I ran into the problem of my icons not showing up about a week ago so I actually know that answer. :) I don’t know what’s going on with your search icon – that’ll have to be something Andrew helps you with.

Anyway, to make the menu icons show up, go to Appearance > Menus and click to “Create a new menu.” Add all of the pages of your site that you want to have in your menu, and rearrange them in the list on the right-hand side as you’d like them to show in your navigation bar.

Scroll down and if you’d like, checkmark the “Auto add pages” checkbox (I find it easier with this enabled) but for sure you need to checkmark the “Theme locations” checkbox to make this your primary menu. Click to Save Menu, and you should be set to go.

    Hope that helps!

    Havilah:
Thank you for the response – I did exactly what you suggested and my menu displays, but not the search icon nor the home icon. Basically there is a space, but no image. That also applies to the images in the edit home page window, the side arrows on the post carousel and the return to top arrow when scrolling. It seems like this is a common issue, but I have yet to find a thread that offers a fix that works for me.

Thanks again for your help! :)

Well darn! I just looked and your menu is rearranged but you’re right – you’re missing quite a few icons throughout the page, not just the icons in your menu. There is obviously something going on with your coding that is way above my knowledge level. I’m sure Andrew will get you going, but in the meanwhile, at least your custom menu is set up and ready to go for when Andrew does offer a fix for you.

Your website does look good, other than the missing icons – good job!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Julie

@Havilah thanks for having a go here.

The font icon files Vantage is trying to load for the missing icons are in fact present on your server. Unfortunately some hosts, in an effort to better secure WordPress installations, block those files.

Please get in contact with your hosting company. Ask them if they can allow your installation access to the following file types:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)
http://biogymnastics.com/wp-content/plugins/so-widgets-bundle/widgets/so-post-carousel-widget/css/fonts/carousel-arrows.woff?-95vnmw Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)

I am having the same issue. I do not have access to the icon images in a Mozilla or Internet Browser. Safari does come up with the images.
