How to remove the background of an image?

I was trying to upload some images to my website but I couldn´t remove the background.
I´ve already converted the images to .PNG and I´ve removed the background by myself.
Actually when I open an image at Windows I can see the background is transparent, but
when I upload the image to my site it is white! Completely white with a “board” around it.

Please, help me!

    Hi Airam

    Try this:

    Head to Appearance > Customize > Page and un-check the Image Shadow and Rounding setting.
