I have watched several youtube tutorials on how to move custom social media icons to the right but the css code they are having me enter is not working with vantage theme. Can you please help me. I only want to move the social media icons in my menu to the right while leaving the regular menu navigation buttons where they are.

Thank you!

    Hi skerting

Please see a thread we answered yesterday: Thread: Social in Navbar. A child theme there adds a widget area that should help with this.

Apologies, the child theme in that thread is for the Logo In Menu layout option. I’ll work something up for you shortly. Please standby.

Here we go. Give this child theme a try:

    https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/vantage-child-menu-widget-area1.zip

Install from Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload ZIP.
Test it first. You’ll find a menu widget area at Appearance > Widgets > Menu.
You can adjust the positioning of the menu widget area from Appearance > Editor > style.css. Change the top and right values there.
If it works, you’ll then need to redo Appearance > Customize and Appearance > Menus settings – a result of activating a child theme.

Wow!!! You made me a child theme! Thank you Andrew! I’m going to check it out now!

Thank you for your quick replies. I am very happy with my choice of website and I will spread the word!

Ok that worked except that now the social icons bar is going vertically down the page instead of horizontally across the menu bar. I will continue to search for a css code that can help me fix that until I hear back from you :)

    thanks again!!!!

    For sure.

Try adding this to your child stylesheet, before the media query:

    .site-navigation .widget-area .socialmedia-buttons a { float: left; }

    Hello Andrew,

I was able to follow along just fine until “adding this to your child stylesheet, before the media query”.

I’m new and I don’t know how to do that.

Also, I chose the big social media icons but they still look very small to me. Oh, and these icons (facebook, twitter) don’t look like the original logos.

    Thanks
