How To Import and Export Page Builder Layout and Content

I have just finished creating a website with a non-SiteOrigin theme, but I built every page of the site using the Page Builder plugin. I am needing to launch this website like…yesterday…but I need to move the site to a new server first. When I export the database and move all the files, the content of my site moves over to the new server, but the Page Builder layouts that I made for my web pages are non-existent, therefore throwing off the entire look of every page in the site.

I have been trying to read up on this issue and have discovered, as of 2 years ago, that there was no way to export the actual Page Builder layouts. Has that problem been fixed yet? If not, is there some other way to get the Page Builder page layouts to move from one server to the next along with all of the files and database information? I really need to get this site moved over, and I would really hate to have to rebuild each page, especially when my client was ready to go live yesterday with their site.

I’ve already tried using the WordPress Importer plugin to export the site and then import the site onto the new server, but that still did not bring over the Page Builder layouts.

Any help with this would be extremely appreciated. If there is a way to make this happen, please provide me with a detailed step-by-step so that I can follow along and make this happen quickly. Please remember, I am not using a SiteOrigin theme.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration in this matter.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi PixelImageMedia,

Very sorry for the delay. You’re definitely able to import and export page builder powered layouts. Just not via the WordPress import / export tool. This, sadly, isn’t something we can really fix and it’s a limitation of that functionality.

For migration we recommend the excellent Duplicator plugin. I’ve completed hundreds of migrations with this plugin and never had any issues.
You also have the option of manually exporting and importing page builder powered pages. To do this open up any page builder powered pages and click the prebuilt layout button in the Page Builder toolbar. Then select Import/Export from the modal sidebar and click download layout. Repeat this process on your live site but this time, upload the previously exported layout.

Obviously, this method isn’t ideal for large sites. We recommend using the Duplicator plugin over the latter suggested method.
