How to get scroll-to-top working on mobile in North theme?

By maggied, 8 years ago. Last reply by maggied, 7 years ago.

Hi chaps

Great flexible theme and widgets – thanks!

One problem I have so far is that the scroll-to-top button doesn’t show on mobile. I’ve tried something in the CSS Editor:

body.responsive #scroll-to-top {
display: block !important;
background: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.20);
right: 5px;
}

with a certain amount of success but it causes the three menu bars to randomly go out of alignment. I suspect there may be a few other issues with the above code although I haven’t discovered them yet.

The site so far is http://www.enfieldtaichi.co.uk.

Any guidance you can give will be much appreciated.

Thanks
Maggie

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Maggied,

    Sadly, as you’ve experienced, the scroll to top functionality is currently not working on mobile devices. As such we’ve disabled it for the time being and we’re looking at correcting it but sadly there are much larger issues that need our attention at the moment. This is not to suggest we’re ignoring it – that’s definitely not the case, it’s just we cannot justify a higher priority for this issue at the moment. Sorry mate! :(

    I would recommend installing a third party plugin to handle this functionality for the time being. Two popular options being Scroll Back To Top and Smooth Scroll Up.

    Hi Alex

    Thanks for letting me know. A pity this functionality is missing as it’s a real pain having to manually scroll all the way back to the beginning on mobile to get to the menu! Anyway, I’ll look into those two third party plugins. Otherwise I’ll keep it going for now with the css above as it seems to work relatively well – at least on the phones I’ve tested so far.

    Thanks again.

    Hi there, any chance a NOTE, could be placed into the North Theme advising of this issue with the mobile menu and your recommendation to use an alternate plugin?

    I think it may save a lot of users heaps of time trying to work out why it’s not working, what have they done wrong or then just spending a lot of time searching the support forum to try and find an answer. (like I have just done!)

    I’m sure your users would appreciate it.:)

    Thanks Dennis

    One of Site Origin’s recent updates has stopped the CSS code I was using from functioning at all.

    I agree with Dennis – users should be warned of this before proceeding with the theme.
