How to get rid of light gray borders around panel-grid or panel-grid-cell

By Corey, 1 month ago. Last reply by Corey, 1 month ago.

On pages where I have used SiteOrigin page builder there are light gray lines that border the contents of the page. The elements that highlight the gray lines and the content inside them:

How do I get rid of the light gray lines?

Thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Corey

It’s likely your theme is targeting widgets. You can remove the widget class from Page Builder widgets at SettingsPage BuilderWidgets.

Hi, Your solution does remove the double border lines, but the problem now is that it turns off ALL the places where I have used SiteOrigin widgets. So colored blocks I’ve created are no longer separate blocks but have merged together.

Is there a way of removing the lines without disabling the widgets altogether?

    Thanks,
    Corey

    Hi Corey

The setting removes the .widget class but shouldn’t do anything else. Can you send us a link showing the negative effect described above?

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for your quick response.
See this page: https://thebobavakianinstitute.org/bob-avakian-ba-official-biography/. At the bottom there is a blue box with links to the three sections of the biography. Before I disabled the widgets, there were three blue boxes with an individual link and with white space between each. Now it’s just one box with the three links. Is there a way for me to attach a screenshot that shows the before and after?

    Hi, I Work Here

The theme might be applying widget alignment that’s carrying over into Page Builder. What do you see in the admin? Are there three Editor widgets in a single column? If so, you could edit the row and set the column count to three and put each Editor Widget in its own column.

    Hi Andrew,
I’m going to send screenshots attached to a reply to the email you sent me. Hopefully you will receive it. I cannot leave the website with the boxes merged together. I am going to enable the SiteOrigin widgets in about 15 minutes.

You can also see from the link I sent that the light gray borders (which formed second vertical and horizontal lines) are no longer there.

I understand the issue. Are the Editor Widgets in a single column within Page Builder? If so, you can edit the row, change the column count to three and place an Editor Widget within each column.

    Hi Andrew,
My response above was written and sent before I saw your comment.

Yes, you are correct the three widgets are in a single column. I moved each to a separate column. With the SiteOrigin widgets enabled the three links are in separate boxes; when disabled they are still in one box.

What you see on the page now are widgets in three separate columns and with the SiteOrigin widgets disabled. https://thebobavakianinstitute.org/bob-avakian-ba-official-biography

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the update regarding email notification delays.

To confirm, the three Editor Widgets are now in a single row with each Editor Widget in its own column?

    Hi, I Work Here

That’s strange; I’m not sure why Page Builder columns aren’t working on your site. If you’d like, we can test the layout to help isolate the issue. When editing the page click LayoutsImport/ExportDownload Layout. Upload the JSON file to WeTransfer or any online location and share the link here. We’ll test the layout locally and thereby help to isolate the cause of the issue.

Hold on. I think I misunderstood your earlier instructions. Let me try this again. Corey

    Hi Andrew,

My original layout was one row, with three widgets in single columns in that row.

My second layout — where I misunderstood what you were saying–was to create three separate rows with a single column widget in each.

My third attempt is the three Editor Widgets in a single row with each Editor Widget in its own column. So the row divided into three. This is what you see on the page now.

What I had originally was what you recommended. None have worked with the SiteOrigin widgets disabled. I think this is what I expected since I turned the widgets off.

I’d like to keep the widgets; Is there a CSS code I can insert to get rid of the gray border lines.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Corey

Apologies; that’s my misunderstanding. To create what you have now, you would indeed add three separate rows, each with a single column containing a single Editor Widget. In the Layout section of each row, ensure you have a bottom margin added.

Within our free scope, we do our best to assist wherever possible. Our main scope here is the normal usage of our plugins. We can help with Custom CSS adjustments within our premium scope where the budget allows it.

There shouldn’t be any issue recreating the three blue boxes as you have them now.

Thank you Andrew. I think you have taken me as far as you can on this problem.

    Hi, I Work Here

I’d be happy to take another look at the page with the widget class disabled and the Editor Widgets each within their own row. The rows shouldn’t be squished together unless the bottom margin is set to zero or something else is going on.

    Hi, I Work Here

Alternatively, if the blue background is applied at the widget styles level, you can insert all three widgets into a single row and add bottom margin via the widget styles panel within each widget.

    Hi Andrew,
I added the bottom margin and that worked! I was about to give up. Thank you for your help!

    Hi, I Work Here

Looking good now! Sorry it took so long to sort this simple issue out. Please don’t hesitate to drop a reply if any follow-up queries arise as a result of removing the “widget” class.

All the best with your site.
