How to format blog post

Hi

I’m struggling with the layout of my Blog page on my website and help would be appreciated.

I’ve written a blog in Posts using PageBuilder and permalinked this to my Blog page. However, I have a few issues:

1. I’d like the Blog page to be the same layout as the rest of my website, which has 10% blank columns at either end of each row. The post currently starts right at the edge of the page. Is this possible?

2. The blog text on the Blog page ends “…beginning […]”, but there is no clickable link to the rest of the text.

3. I’ve added an image to my Post but this isn’t visible on the Blog page. I don’t know why?

Sorry if these are silly questions but I’ve been looking on the web and I can’t seem to find out what to do.

Much appreciated as always.
Ross

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Ross

    1. On your Blog page, change the Page Template in the right column from Blog to any other template you’d like.
On the same page build your layout as required and insert a Post Loop widget to pull your posts. That’ll let you place the Post Loop in a center column with a column on either side.

    2. Theme Settings > Blog > Post Content, set that to Full Content and then use a more link in your posts to split content: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

    3. If it’s after where the excerpt it being grabbed from then it won’t be visible. Try using the post featured image in the right column when editing a post.

    Hope that helps.

    Many thanks Andrew

Even though the Post Loop widget is in the correct column on my Blog page
(with 10% empty column either side), the text does not align on the left and there is a lot of space on the right…Any ideas why?

Can I change the position of Post Author and Post Date so that they are also in line with the column?

I also have a Visual Editor widget (saying 'blog') above the Post Loop widget on my Blog page but the text isn't showing..

Also, I'd like each blog post to have its own url as well as being shown in the Post Loop on my Blog page, so that I can post links to it on Facebook etc and direct people to my site. I guess that would be a sub-page under blog page? Is that possible?

    Many thanks
    Ross

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Ross

Your Blog page is built using a post: http://rossgardens.co.uk/blog/. Your Blog page should be a page, you can create a page under Pages. When you’re editing a page under Pages, select one of the Full Width page templates. You can find the page template drop down menu on the right.

Your last point. That happens by default. Each post already has it’s own url.

Start with the above and we’ll go from there.

    Thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks again Ross. Could you perhaps send through a set of temporary login details to:

    [email protected]

I don’t quite have the full picture viewing the page source, taking a look from the admin would help.

    Hi, I Work Here

Settings > Reading had “blog” set as the posts page, once I de-selected that the page rendered as normal. Let me know if you need any help from here. Thanks.
