How to add Social Media links to Origami theme?

Resolved 8 replies premiumthemetheme-origami

I have the Origami Premium theme for my partner’s jewellery portfolio website: www.mizukitakahashi.co.uk

I’d like to add a link to her Facebook page that stays in the header, somewhere on the right but can not find anything in the settings that will allow this. I also can’t find any good (and preferably free) plugins that will add this. I am currently using a Floating Social Media plugin but to be honest it’s quite horrible the way it moves around.

Could anyone help me out?
Thanks

    Hi Kiel

    Thanks for running Origami.

    There is unfortunately no header or sidebar widget area available in Origami. You can however use the footer widget area. I’d recommend trying: https://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-facebook-twitter-share-buttons/. That’ll give you more options for inserting share links in pages and other areas than the default post sharing the theme offers.

    Hope that helps.

    Dear Andrew,

    Thanks for the help, though that plugin creates ‘share’ links for posts. Origami can already do this in the premium version. What I’m trying to do is put a Facebook button in the header (or footer) which links to my partner’s Facebook page – not to share the current content on the user’s own Facebook page.

    Is this possible to do?

    For sure. The plugin I recommended can also add share links to pages, widget areas and anywhere using the shortcode so it has more potential than our standard post sharing. Origami unfortunately doesn’t have a header widget area but you could use this plugin’s shortcode ability to insert links into the footer or use another plugin like: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-social-icons/. The footer widget area can be accessed at Appearance > Widgets: Footer.

    Sorry to be a pain. Could you help me out with the CSS I need to input to get the footer background bar white instead of grey? You can see that it’s grey here: http://www.mizukitakahashi.co.uk/

    I use the custom css plugin to adjust small things like this but don’t know my code much to edit this colour.

    Thanks again!

    No problem, give this a try:

    /* Origami Footer Colors */
    #footer-widgets {
    border-top: 1px solid #EEEEEE;
    background-color: #F9F9F9;
    }
