How to add side bar with blog info only onto blog page

Hello, I have a Vantage theme website: hoshihana.com

I’d like to add a side bar only onto my blog page so that it shows:

recent posts, categories. post links by year/date, & a subscription
component.

How can I do this so that it only shows on the blog page of my site?

I’d like to also have a very simple design that matches the site aesthetic.

Thanks very much!

    Hi Hoshi

    Thanks for reaching out.

Add your widgets to the sidebar widget area at Appearance > Widgets > Sidebar.

To make sure your widgets only show on blog and single posts make sure you set your page templates to Full Width. When editing a page you’ll find the page template drop down menu in the right column. Full width will remove the sidebar.

Alternatively, give Jetpack Widget Visibility a try. It’ll let you set conditions for when your widgets will appear.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Andrew,
    Thanks for the reply.
I tried all of the suggestions. However, the widgets are still not showing up on my blog page.
I can’t seem to find the template control area on the blog page via the admin side.

I have accessed the Jetpack Widget Visibility button but am not sure how I should set this. Should it be:
Page – Blog? Tried this also but still no widgets showing.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Andrew,
I just found that I needed to show the side bar of my blog page and position it to right side of the page through the theme settings to view all of the widgets. So now it works! Thanks for the help.
