Had a look at your page and I think you have a misconception on what you should be ranking for. In the sense if your clients are searching for nisekowoodynote than they already know you and happy to use your service, on the other hand seo efforts are done to attract clients who search for big mountain adventurer holidays, skiing etc…

These are your keywords, this is just the tip of the ice berg as a good sEO would also analyse the keywords for searches and competition. Well with some reading you can easily do it yourself.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi David

    Thanks for reaching out.

Hi Adrian, thanks for your helpful reply, most appreciated.

David, a classic example of what Yoast is looking for is say our Vantage theme page had the focus keyword “vantage” and we had “vantage” in the URL. Yoast’s tool would be happy with that. However, I don’t see how this is possible for the home page. For branding purposes your home page should be just your URL, it wouldn’t look nice if you added a page URL to your domain for your home page. This is in addition to Adrian’s point about where to focus etc.

    Hi, I Work Here

Not a bad overview if you’re keen:

Maybe you would create urls like.
    http://www.nisekowoodynote.com/greatskiiingholidays
If you are running on word press there is a good seo plugin for doing this

Thank You Adrian and Hello again to Andrew,

Go it (mostly). I have had SEO by Yoast installed almost from day one. So now how do I change the Home Page URL to just nisekowoodynote.com. Do I have to create the Home Page again? And what should the Page Name be, Home Page/Front Page? My Permalinks are a real mess! The thing is all my other pages with a Green Light for SEO are no different in set-up to the Home Page. That is why I do not understand why the SEO states that the Focus Keword “Woody Note Winter Guarantee” is not found in the page URL?

Am also a little confused (as usual) on Key Words. How do you enter Key Words into the ‘Focus Keyword’ section? I thought they had to be in a readable sentence. Can they be entered in series and if so, how are they separated?

    Sorry
    Thank You David

    Hi, I Work Here

As far as I can see, your home page is fine as it is. That green icon from Yoast is just a check they’re running internally. Let me try explain further. This is your home page:

    http://www.nisekowoodynote.com

This is your home page focus keyword:

    “Woody Note Winter Guarantee”

Yoast doesn’t see the above string in your home URL. But that’s fine. If you have a moment, perhaps take another, quick read through my first reply. I’m not an expert in this field but I don’t see how it’s possible to pass this check for your home page. For further help, you could look at posting on Yoast’s forum. It’s a pretty specific question that perhaps they could assist with.

With regards to your section question, sorry, I’m not sure. I’ll see if I can dig this section up from their help docs quickly.

Here is a little background reading that might help:

    Hope that helps :)
