Home page icons not displaying – Installed Vantage theme on BlueHost subdomain addon site

By AG, 9 years ago. Last reply by CMS, 9 years ago.

Hi,

I’ve been using the Vantage theme on my primary site (www.tradeslot.com) for quite a while and loving it.

So I’ve decided to also use it on my other sites that have been setup as addon subdomains in my BlueHost account.

I’ve successfully installed WordPress into each subdomain and activated the Vantage theme, however when I look at the published site, the following icons are broken when using any browser on my desktop:
– search icon
– all circle icons

I can’t figure out why? Please help.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi AG

    Thanks for your support.

The new font icons being used there might be missing. Please could you try deleting the theme and re-installing. Let me know if that brings about any change.

    Hi Andrew,

Tried it out as you suggested.

    – made another theme active
    – this allowed me to delete the Vantage theme
    – installed and activated the Vantage theme again
    – no changes to my site (icons still broken)

Do you have any experience with Vantage working on WordPress Multi-site? I think this may be the source of my problem…

The theme is working great on my primary site; broken icons are only showing on my subdomain sites…

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks for the update.

Sure, I run Vantage on a multi-site installation locally. I think issues with fonts can arise when domain mapping is in play. That is to say when assets are being loaded from a different url than the site url. I did look for that in your installation and didn’t see it.

Just noticed minification in play. Please won’t you try turning off the aspect of the plugin that is minifying CSS. You don’t need to disable that entire plugin, just the CSS minification. See if that changes anything.

Great – let me know if I can grab some offline help from you regarding my multi-setup. BlueHost does not offer any help for multi-site setups because of their complexity.

I turned off CSS Minify in my TotalCache plugin, emptied the site page cache too, no luck.

Still in 2 minds about whether my current WordPress Subdomain installation was the way to go or if I should have gone the Subdirectory route – anyway for now, if I can avoid it, I prefer not to uninstall my multi-setup and start over. However, if I’ve made the wrong choice, happy to start over.
So for now, I’ll continue struggling through my subdomain setup and see how far I go.

In a nutshell, I own 1 primary domain ( http://www.tradeslot.com) and 20 other domains. My aim is for the 20 other domains to look very much like my primary domain, but they will be only 1 page (home page), contain slightly different text and have links pointing to my primary site in order to increase traffic. Increasing traffic will be their primary purpose. None of my sites are for blogging, they are just for marketing purposes. As I’m still trying to figure out what is right and wrong I have setup 19 of these domains as PARKED subdomains and 1 as an ADDON domain through BlueHost – this one is called http://autoblitz.com.au/

If you click on that website, you will see what I mean when I say the logos for my social media icons aren’t working as well as the circle icons. But in my primary website everything is perfectly.

If you have any more advice, that would be much appreciated.

I figured it out – problem resolved!

It was a server side caching issue!

I could probably write a blog about it if anyone is interested…

    Hello AG and Andrew:

I just had this issue over the weekend and solved it updating “WordPress Address URL” and “Site Address URL”, inside General Settings, with the same data (the new addon domain).

    Thank you,
    Ivan
