Hi folks, I am using page builder and the widget bundle. It’s all working great for me except the hero widget, which just spins and won’t load. I disabled all the other plugins except these two and it is still happening – it’s never worked for me. I did check that the widget is active, then deactivated and re-activated it, still no joy.
any suggestions?
Hi Linda,
Do you currently have Wordfence installed?
If you do:
This is likely a WordFence issue. The issue is that it’s initially very strict so things like the Learning Mode do definitely help in resolving issues like this one. However, if you want to “skip” the learning process and just use your widgets you can do so pretty easily. Go to the affected widget and open it up, don’t get “blocked” yet. Instead open up another tab on WP AdminWordFenceLive Traffic and filter it by blocked traffic. Then make an adjustment to your button widget and you’ll get blocked. Go back to the Wordfence tab and press the whitelist param from FireWall button. This is 100% safe as the contents of the field are not at all close to what would be required for an XSS attack. (it’s really quite odd it would even suggest such a thing…).
Let me know if this helps.
If you don’t:
Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look?
Hi Alex, I don’t have WordFence installed. What else could it be? I’ve had this same issue at work or home, so it shouldn’t be a firewall thing. (That said, I really don’t know why this one widget only is not working for me)
Hi Linda,
I’m unsure. I’ll need to check over the error itself to be able to help further. As such, would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look?
This is a private message.
Aha! I figured it out (in part). The hero widget conflicts with my theme. I am using Sydney by athemes. When I changed randomly to a different theme (adapt by wpexplorer) the widget worked. I really like Sydney a lot, will have to perhaps find something similar.
Hi Linda,
That’s really Weird. Sydney has built in support for SiteOrigin Page Builder so it’s odd that it’s not working as desired for you. Maybe contact aThemes to see if they have any ideas?
exactly – I was very surprised that this problem is happening and will open a ticket with them now.
thanks for looking into it, Alex, I appreciate it!
