Hero Image Widget on existing Page

Hello, I apologise in advance for this fairly amateur question but I am not a website developer. I have been looking all day for the right widget for my needs and I believe SiteOrigin is it but I a must be missing something to make it work.
I am attempting to add a hero image to my site’s homepage which has a button that links to my contact us page. The video on the Hero Image Widget page only explains how to do this if you create a whole new page – I already have the page set up, I just need to change the hero image on the page to include a button.
I have installed both widgets but they do not show the ‘add widget’ tab as per the video.
Any help would be much appreciated!
