Help with our custom search after Theme update…

I updated the Vantage theme to the latest and now our search (InstantSearch+) no longer works. It is working on our dev site seen here where the theme is 2.2.3:

But the production site is not working:

Atlona

The search box in the navbar in the Sandbox is what we want back in our production site. Can you help?

Mike

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Michael

Search seems to be working the same for me on both sites. Are you still seeing a problem? If so, what about the search field isn’t working?

    Thanks

    Andrew,

We’ve solved most of the issues but the “search” still fades out when the menu is clicked. I know we solved this in the past. Do you remember? I am trying to go back to older posts to see.

    Thanks

    Mike

    Hi, I Work Here

Super, glad to hear you’ve made some progress.

It sounds like the fix was perhaps made directly to theme files. A quick reminder that all theme files get overwritten during updates. If files are edited they ideally need to be edited from within a child theme.

I don’t remember finding the problem for the search disappearing issue. I think it was something solved on your side. If you want to confirm you can find the list of threads here:

We finally fixed the issue. We edited the .js as stated in one of the original threads.

    Thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

Super, glad to hear you made progress.

Remember that the JS file will be overwritten if you update the theme again.

    All the best :)
