Help for Pre-built Layout

I wonder if I have misunderstood something about Pre-built layouts? I find one I like, and click “USE” but nothing happens. Should it work with whatever theme I am using in WordPress (as the description says: Page Builder gives you complete freedom to choose any WordPress theme you like) or do I need to be using a particualr theme?

I am using TWentySixteen theme at the moment.

thanks

Michele

    Hi Michele,

The prebuilt layouts are really the contents of the page itself. If your intention was to use them as a theme instead of a normal WordPress them you can do this, but it’ll require a bit of Custom CSS to accomplish. I can help with this if you like.

Just to confirm, when you say you click use and nothing happens. Does that imply nothing is being added? If so this might be a conflict issue.

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes – when I click USE, nothing happens. At least most of the time. Suddenly it did! Now I can’t make it happen again…

I was thinking that something like About Simple or Minimal might make a nice front page for my website. But if it is complex to do, then maybe I should leave it for a while – I really should get my website live asap rather than procrastinating! The current front page will do. Thanks for your help.

    Hi Michele,

It should be noted that when you do decide to have a play around with the layouts that if this issue persists; you should run a plugin conflict test. Please follow the following guide:

Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

Thanks, I will bear that in mind. If I changed to one of your themes, would I lose all the words and layouts I have done so far?

    Thanks

    Hi Michele,

The beauty of SiteOrigin Page Builder is that is 100% theme independent. You will only lose (until you reactivate your current theme of course) any changes to the theme settings as they will no longer have any affect.
