I am running Page Builder 1.5.3 and WordPress 4.0 with a child theme based on Vantage. (I have a valid Vantage License)
I’ve disabled each of my plugins and traced it back to the Page Builder Plugin.
When loading a page to be edited (not posts, only pages) the editor loads, I see visual and text tabs. Then when the Page Builder tabs tries to load it is sets the editor style to “display:none”.

When you click on the Page Builder tab it should now hide the Visual and Text tabs and replace them with a button that says Switch to Editor. Are you saying this is happening even before you click on the Page Builder tab?
Yes, the entire editor disappears. I can send a screen shot if you’d like and show you the html where the inline style is being inserted.

This is most likely due to a plugin conflict. The way to confirm is to temporarily de-activate all non-SiteOrigin plugins, check that the issue is resolved and then re-activate your plugins one by one. I unfortunately think that All in one SEO might be the issue.

I’ve tested All in one SEO and it was not that plugin.
Have you disabled everything besides Page Builder at once and re-checked the problem?

I’ve tested all of the plugins and there are no errors with any plugins.
I did find the cause of the disappearance. Screen options, but it was turned on for page builder! Some how the page build visibility check box is marked as “on” but the visibility is changed to “off”. After toggling the box off then on the page builder editor reappears.
Let me know if that makes sense. Also, have you ever seen this before?
Thanks for digging deeper and finding this. It’s definitely the first time we’ve seen this problem. I’ve logged it on our side but if you’re OK with the hotfix you outlined then I’m happy to leave it there for now. Hopefully we’ll be able to find the cause in time.
I guess…It’s not ideal…Hopefully I’ll can flesh out the main cause (a mismatcn in my user visibility settings, a core WP issue…)

For sure. I logged it on our side last night. There is something up with Page Builder’s visibility, in my demo the checkbox only works until save then it reverts back to being visible. It’ll be attended to as soon as possible. Thanks again.
I’m having the same problem! Took me a while to find this.
The issue was when I went to Edit, the page loaded, the visual editor and Page Builder appeared, then disappeared. :(
At first, I checked the Screen Options and sure enough, Page Builder was UNchecked. So I checked the box and Page Builder showed up. But it doesn’t save the setting. When I update or go back to the page, the editors disappear again, but this time in Screen options, it was still turned on. If I uncheck then re-check, it appears again.
This is a clients site I’m building. If it was my site, I’d probably just know to toggle the box. But would like to have a solution for my client. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Crystal

We’re currently busy with a big Page Builder update. We’ll be releasing 1.6 this year hopefully. It’ll resolve this challenge.

Me and most of our clients also have the same issue, we love PageBuilder but it is really annoying to always toggle visibility in screen options for every change.
There is really no plan to fix that issue before 1.6?
Let me take another look at this from the beginning. I’ll get back to you this evening. To my knowledge it’s not something we’ve seen widespread. In the mean time please can you try:
1. Testing without any plugins activated except Page Builder.
2. Please also test with a default theme like Twenty Fourteen activated.
3. Please confirm under Plugins that you’re running SiteOrigin Page Builder and not a forked version. We do see this sometimes.
I have Daniel’s answers on the above, it’ll be helpful for you to run the same tests too. Please let me know re: each point.

I’ve tested all the plugins and there’s not conflict. I haven’t tested with twenty fourteen, but I’ll go with Marko’s response that it will work. (can confirm later)
Plugin version is orginal and Version 1.5.3
I’m using a new theme called Buildpress ( http://www.proteusthemes.com/themes/?theme=buildpress-wp )

I’am actually one of three guys who created that theme. We are working hard to resolve that problem since is quite annoying. It looks like there some kind of problem with our theme and not with PageBuilder.
This is our priority to fix right now, so we will try to found solution as fast as possible.
Andrew, one interesting thing that happened is when i switched back from Twenty Fourteen , for now, i also don’t have problems in BuildPress theme.

Ok, so I was doing some work on the site and installed 3 plugins:
1) All In One WP Security v3.8.5 | By Tips and Tricks HQ, Peter, Ruhul, Ivy
2) Wordfence Security Version 5.2.9 | By Wordfence
3) WordPress SEO Version 1.6.3 | By Team Yoast
Don’t know why, but Page Builder is working fine now and I no longer have to toggle the checkbox in Screen Options! YEAH!! I’ll take it!!!
(on another note, I think I saw some problems with SEO – Yoast, but I haven’t tested anything yet.
