Hi!
Today I updated a clients site who use Vantage Premium.
After the update the header widget appears under the logo.
I’ve tried to fiddle around with the css, but at the same time I feel that it should not be necessary since it worked before.
I found another thread with the same issue (https://siteorigin.com/thread/header-text-after-vantage-update-underneath-logo-instead-of-on-the-right/) but it didn’t help solve my issue.
I am using a Text Widget to display the image, which is linked from Media Library.
I have checked several other sites, on which I have done the same thing when using Vantage. All I have done on these sites is to add an
<img src="url" />to the text widget, and it has worked. In css i had the Vantage header fix and usually have no more worries about it.
Any ideas about what could cause the issue?
Hi :)
Thanks for reaching out. I’ll be able to confirm once I’ve taken a look at your site but my guess is that the following setting is enabled:
AppearanceTheme SettingsNo Widget Overlay
If enabled, this setting will drop the widget area onto a new line when the theme detects that the widget area is overlapping the logo.
If possible, please, send your site URL so we can take a look. You can use the Private Reply checkbox bottom right to keep your site private.
Hi thanks for your quick reply.
No widget overlay is not enabled.
I’ll sen you login details in pm

Thanks for the update. If you’re able, please, take a look at the new masthead.php file in Vantage Premium (parent). In short, the copy of masthead.php in your child theme is now outdated. Ideally, you need to update masthead.php while still keeping whatever changes were made to that file.
Hi, thanks for you time and effort – as always Andrew, a great help!
I only added a div to the masthead, however when I use the new masthead file and add the div at the same place as before, the main menu gets dislocated and appears across the logo in the header section.
So for the time being, I found it easier to just rollback to the old version of the theme. Now everything is working again.
One last question: are there any other benefits of updating to the new theme – apart from recieving new theme functions?
No problem. If you’d like to upgrade again, I’d be happy to take another look at the challenge and find a way to add your div that doesn’t break the header layout.
Updates serve two purposes, usually, they fix small bugs or challenges users have raised. They also usually include little additions. If you’re not experiencing any challenges then there isn’t any specific reason you need to update.
