Hey, guys. Hope I’m using the right language for this. Basically, we have Vantage premium and we currently have our logo in our masthead. However, we’d really like for our tagline to appear in orange under our logo. I’ve done just about everything I can think of to do this, but so far, nothing’s worked. I would really appreciate the help.

Hi Mary
Thanks for reaching out.
Vantage, unfortunately, by default doesn’t support the regular tagline. I’ve created a child theme you can try, you can find it here:
https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/vantage-child-center-tagline-support.zip
To try it out:
1. Download the ZIP file to your desktop.
2. Install from Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload Theme.
Try it out. If you want to style the site tagline further you can add the following to Appearance > Custom CSS:
Between the curly brackets is where you’d insert declarations as required. Let me know if we can help with that.
So I downloaded the child theme, uploaded it, and activated it…and my website crashed. Like, I can’t even access dashboard to set the website to maintenance mode.
I’m currently on the phone with our host to see if they can deactivate the child theme from where they are.
Your site is still up on my side. The child theme is activated and working.
When a child theme is activated, Appearance > Customize > Theme Design and menu location settings reset. You need to redo those. Unfortunately just a standard WordPress process.
With regards to you not having access. Please, try another computer, or try clearing your browser’s cache.
So in summary: Please cancel the request with your hosts for now. We should be able to resolve your lack of login access without deleting the child theme. I can see your login page.
I am logged in but unable to access my dashboard or edit anything. Cache is clear but still not able to edit anything. Receiving ERROR 500 message.
First thing we can try for that:
Settings > Permalinks, click Save to write a new .htaccess file.

I am unable to access settings. I cannot access the dashboard whatsoever.
Understood. Please, can we try. We’ll advise further steps if we have the same issue.
Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:
[email protected]
Just navigate to Users > Add New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the “Send Password” field so we receive the details.
Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.
What do you mean by “can we try”? I cannot create a new admin account for you to attempt with.
Alternatively, send us your login details. Those can be changed once the issue is resolved. The Private Reply checkbox can be used on the bottom right of the text area.
if i try to click on any sort of admin function, i receive either a 500 error or a page stating that they cannot open the theme file.
If you have FTP access to your server you’d need to run through the steps outlined here:
http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-internal-server-error-in-wordpress/
Starting with: Checking for Corrupt .htaccess File then moving onto:
Increasing the PHP Memory Limit (hosts can do this for you)
Then: Deactivate all Plugins
Then: Re-uploading Core Files
Then: Ask your Hosting Provider
