By dm, 7 years ago. Last reply by dm, 7 years ago.

Hi

the header on my site won’t sit right – i’ve cleared cache and history. Does anyone have any ideas what I’m doing wrong? Many thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dm,

I’ve logged this as a bug. In the meantime, you can fix this with some custom CSS. If you navigate to AppearanceCustom CSS, you’ll get our custom CSS editor. Please add the following CSS:

    #masthead .sticky-bar {
    	z-index: 9999;
    }

You might also need to install the SiteOrigin CSS Editor.

Many thanks, but it doesn’t change anything.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi David,

I just had a look at your website and the CSS seems to be working without issue. Is the hero widget still covering the menu for you? If so, try clearing your browser cache as your browser may be caching the older page (without the CSS), and then refreshing the page to see if that helps.

    Hi Alex

Thanks for getting back to me – I tried that, but to no avail.

I installed the custom CSS plugin and added the script there.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi David,

Ah. Sorry about that. I presumed your issue was a more common issue.
To clarify, is that how your header currently sets or did you change your header layout back after the screenshot? if the latter, can you temporarily change it back so I can see the issue?

    Hi Alex

Thanks – yes, that is how it currently sets – I tried it from a different computer today too, with the same result.

    Thank you

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi David,

Oddly, I see (there’s text below the image):

What is your header design set to? You can check this by navigating to WP AdminAppearanceCustomize, Theme SettingsHeader and checking the Header Design field.

Do you have a cache plugin installed? If so, can you please clear your page cache?

    Hi Alex

I have it set to ‘Menu in line with logo’

As you can see below – it sort of shows up correctly in the preview section (although there are still a couple of alignment issues) but when I close the customise section it goes weird again.

    settings

I don’t think I have a cache plugin installed – I only have a few plugins and I don’t think any of them match that description

    Thank you

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi David,

Oh, that’s odd. Just checked and I’m seeing the correct header design now. Not too sure why I couldn’t previously as you aren’t running a cache plugin based on your plugin list.

Okay, so I can see the issue you’re seeing. I’m going to bring this up with Andrew who’s the effectively the lead on Unwind.

    Sorry about this!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi David,

Sorry, I neglected to mention that I would increase the menu breakpoint for the time being. Please navigate to WP AdminAppearanceCustomize, Theme SettingsNavigation and increase the Mobile Menu Collapse to 1200. how does that look?

  11. 7 years, 3 months ago dm

    Hi Alex

Thank you, I’ve made the change to 1200, but I can’t see any difference.

I tried changing the other settings – sticky, search bar etc but that didn’t make any difference either.

    Thanks for your time

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi David,

Try increasing the mobile menu collapse amount to see if that helps. Also, please try clearing your cache to see if that helps.

    Hi Alex

I cleared the cache and upped the mobile menu collapse number.

I did it in increments of 100 with no change until I reached 2500 when it changed to this

    Changed

Shall I leave it like that in the meantime or should I change it back?

    Thanks

    David

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi David,

2500? That’s really high! What is your resolution and are you using any system scaling (or are you using zoom?) or anything like that? I ask as I can only seem to replicate this issue at 1200 – I don’t see any issues at 2560. Sadly, if you’re using scaling it may be better to set it to 1200 for the time being and understand that it’ll appear like what you’ve pictured for you but it won’t appear like that for others (due to the large amount of scaling you’re using).

Is it currently set to 2500 for you? I ask as it appears to still be set at 1200 for me.

    Hi Alex

I have no idea what is going on :) I’ve just changed the nav to be centred below the logo – it looks ok now since I removed the search bar, the header doesn’t take up 30% of the page.

In response to your last question – resolution 2560×1440, zoom @ 100%.

I really appreciate all your help, keep up the good work.

    David
