Google Maps Widget does not display map in edit mode

9 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 9 years ago

In edit mode, after I have entered a location in the map center, it does not display the map – yet the nearly correct location is shown OK on my WP website. The problem is a can’t move the markers in the edit mode as it does not display a map – to enable me to move the markers. Why?

    Hi Peter

    Thanks for reaching out.

It would be great to have the markers draggable in WordPress, thanks for your feedback. For the moment, markers can only be added by typing in the location:

The name of a place, town, city, or even a country. Can be an exact address too.

Are you placing markers that makes typing the location difficult? If so, what you can do is navigate to your chosen point in Google Maps, right click on the location you want and select “What’s here?”. Once done this will reveal the coordinates in the left sidebar. They’ll be in a format like:

    -34.079697, 18.433926

If you paste your coordinates into the marker field in the widget it should work just as it would if you typed a known name. Does that help for now?
