Hi,
The google maps on my word press website TheTreeExpert.org has stopped working and this “There were no results for the place you entered. Please try another.” is what is now in its place. I’m a newbie to website building as this is my first website. I built it with the Tesseract theme. Any ideas what has happened? It happened when I was off it for the last couple of months so not something I have done.
Many thanks for any help
Sam
Hi Sam
Because of some changes to the Google Maps API, you now need an API key for any maps you create. It’s free to get one, and it’s relatively quick. Here’s the part of the documentation that talks about the API key.
Page: Google Maps
Can you let me know if that fixes the issue.
Thank you very much Greg, seems almost too simple to be true. Just created a key with a click of button, no information? but this should solve the problem? It is asking me if I want to restrict the key!?
Thanks
Sam
I should say I use the map in multiple local contact pages. Which I think will mean I have to input the API in each page.
That last post was incorrect. There will only be one map I need to get an API for. Currently as I type the ‘There were no results for the place you entered. Please try another’ has gone, but where the map should be is completely blank. I noted when creating the API it said it might take several minutes to save.
Hi Sam
That’s correct. It can take up to an hour for a new API key to start working. So give it some time and see what happens.
As for requiring an API key on every map. At the moment, you would need to manually enter API keys, but we’re working on adding global settings for our widgets. An API key for the maps widget would be a good example.
No joy on this yet. I created a few API keys and thought that I had done them correctly following youtube videos that were slightly different (due to google tinkering). But the map section is still blank… :-(
