Google drive Video embedded using iframe doesn’t work on iphone

By farah.a, 3 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 3 years ago.

Hello,

I’ve embedded a video from Google Drive using an iframe (WordPress website with Vantage Theme). The video plays on Chrome browsers and Android phones but not on Safari or iPhones. I found a similar thread posted a couple of years ago but there is no follow up from the user as to whether the issue was resolved.

Thank you.

I resolved the issue on Safari by 'going to Safari/Preferences/Privacy and unchecking Prevent cross-site tracking.' I found this suggestion on the
    Apple community forum.

However, I can't resolve the issue for iPhones. Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Farah,

I recommend adding the video using the SiteOrigin Video Player widget (which supports externally hosted videos) rather than an iframe. Google can sometimes trigger a download rather than streaming the video and playing it inside of a media player will prevent that from happening. This should also resolve the issue you’re facing on your iPhone.

    Kind regards,
    Alex
