I can get full screen if i use a layout from the theme templates. but if i use vantage default i can’t get the rows to be full width.

Vantage by design has a content container. You can override it on a row by row basis by opening a row (click the wrench icon above the row) and/head over to the row styles sidebar. Open the Layout settings group and st the Row Layout to Full Width or Full Width Stretched – you’re likely after Full Width stretched.
You can globally remove the content container from all pages by adding the following CSS to WP AdminAppearanceCustomize, Additional CSS:
.site-content .full-container { max-width: none !important; }
