function.php error

Honestly I can’t tell you what happened. I attempted editing the theme functions.php and my website shut down. I went to the WP support forum but with no luck. I am a premium member but it doesn’t even show my order number anymore! so I figured I’d see if anyone would help me.

The error completely revoked access to the website entirely, even my /wp-admin page. It wasn’t until I reinstalled WP that I was able to access it. But now, I can’t use vantage at all. As soon as I activate it, my website shuts down and gives me this error

Is there any way I can just reset vantage to default so that I can just start over?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dakotah

Sorry to hear about the hassle.

Whenever you upgrade Vantage all theme files get overwritten. So if you need to change any theme files, those changes should be made within a child theme:

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

To fix this you’ll need to head use FTP or a hosting file manager and head to /wp-content/themes/ and delete the vantage folder. WordPress will then revert to another theme, you can then log back in and re-install Vantage. You can either install the free version and then upgrade via Appearance > Vantage Premium: Already Paid? top right. Or download the ZIP file and install via Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload Theme. The link to download your ZIP can be found in your original order mail. If you need to recall that email you can do so from: https://siteorigin.com/orders/.

I got the same problem and didn’t want to delete my theme, becauze I hade other files modified and didn’t waant to lose any customization made.
The simplest way is to download the vantage theme .zip, open it, search for functions.php file, copy everything from there and paste it in your site’s function.php that is broken (accessed through a ftp client so you can edit it).
And there you go. The website is back online with the default functions.php file.
    That’s it! :)
