Full Width (to actual full width of screen) on MH Food Magazine

Hiya,

I’m having similar problems to those in this thread: https://siteorigin.com/thread/cant-edit-static-front-page-with-mh-magazine-theme/

I worked out that using the “Homepage” page template just didn’t work, so have since been using the “Full width” template. Trouble is, the width of the content area doesn’t actually stretch to the full width of the screen.

I have already tried updating the “full width container” settings from “body” to various things including “.mh-container-outer” which seems to be the outer width container, but to no avail.

Could you please help? I’d like the background colour of a row to stretch to the edge of the screen.

Many thanks,

Emily

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Emily,

The linked thread doesn’t appear to be related. That thread about able being unable to make any changes to their home page while your issue, based on what you stated, is being unable to set the rows full width. To clarify, are you unable to make any edits to your page?

Regardless of the above, do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?
It sounds like you’re after a row layout rather than making the entire page full width – as that will cause everything to be the full width of the page. You can set a row to full width by opening the row you wish to make full width and head over to the row styles sidebar. Open the Layout settings group and set the Row Layout to Full Width and save.

    Hi Alex,

I don’t see the layout settings you’re referring to.
Where is the row layout - full width?

It is kind of the same problem as the linked thread because we use the same theme. The “Homepage” page template lets content reach the physical width of the webpage. But the plugin doesn’t seem to work on this type of template, so I have to use one of the defaults called “Full width” but with actually has a white margin around the page content.

It’s my homepage, so if you’re going to be about I’ll flip it over now so you can have a look.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Emily,

Thanks. Hm. You don’t appear to be using Page Builder on the linked page. I also can’t seem to see the pictured SiteOrigin Features widget on your home page either. Is the page you’re working on a different page? If so, can you please link me to that page? If not, can you please clarify what part of the page you’re looking to make full width.

Regardless, your screenshot is of the widget styles rather than the row styles. You need to open the row by clicking the wrench icon above the row and go over to the row styles sidebar.

Please revert the container class back to body – that’s not the source of this issue, and body is the correct selector.

    Hi Alex,

Yes, I really am using Page Builder on the homepage, the link I sent you. Maybe refresh it…?

I’ve changed it back to body and and tried editing the row to “full width” from “standard” but still with the white border (nothing changed).

I’ll screenshot if you still can’t see my homepage right for some reason…

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Itareldie,

My browser cache is disabled. I see you’re using a cache plugin and the cache was generated about a day ago. Can you please try clearing that?

You’ll need to add the background color to the row rather than the widget.

    Hi Alex,

I don’t know what you mean by a cache plugin, but I think I’ve managed to edit so that the features and colour extends to the edge of the screen.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Emily,

    Great to hear!

You’re using a plugin called Comet Cache. It’s basically a browser cache but server side.
